What do I need to do to be my very best at playing the clarinet? Any Tips or Advice?

clarinet advice or just if you want to chat with someoneWhat do I need to do to be my very best at playing the clarinet? Any Tips or Advice?
Mastering the clarinet takes patience and time. Practice must become an everyday thing. In my opinion, the two most important things are accuracy and tone. The clarinet is supposed to have a warm, ';woody'; tone. Your embouchure (how you hold the mouthpiece in your mouth) is extremely important and takes time to build up. At first, the sides of your mouth will hurt, but with time and practice you will build them up. Accuracy is acquired by working with scales. It's tedious, but absolutely necessary.

Ok, that's the physical part. Now you need to think about your instrument. I don't know how long you've been playing or at what level your playing is. If you are a beginner, no doubt you are playing a student clarinet. This instrument is made from plastic instead of wood. It will serve you well for several years. After you have been playing for a few years, if you have the money, buy a professional instrument (normally made of granadilla wood though I've seen rosewood clarinets as well). If you don't have the money for a high-end clarinet, you can still move up by buying a high-end mouthpiece and ligature.

One more thing . . . reeds. You should be that the cheaper reeds can adversely affect your sound. The cheaper the reeds the less stringent the inspection. For instance, a box of Rico reeds could very well have several ';bad'; reeds in it. The better the brand of reeds you buy the less chance of getting a bad reed in the box.

That's enough for one sitting. Have fun, make music. What do I need to do to be my very best at playing the clarinet? Any Tips or Advice?
keep on praticing, and every time you play put your heart in it,Its important.Coz music with out a heart is dead..

P.s

music is the languge our soul
i'm going into high school band and i've learned a LOT from my mistakes in middle school.

first of all, if you're not very good you should get a private lesson teacher. don't be afraid to freely talk to him/her about what you need to work on.

also (in case you can't afford the time/money for private lessons), you should really focus on how your lips look. they should be tight, make sure the bottom lip isn't hanging down.

another thing... when you get to those high notes (which were my weakest point, really) you have to blow your lungs out. that's the only way to get them out if you already have a good embouchure.

PRACTICE A LOT. focus on your tuning, too. high D and middle A (the one with one finger) are hard to get in tune.

hope this helps!
PRACTICE!!!!!
ok one things that can make a prson better if they are still a begginer is equipment. If you are still playign with that metla two screw ligature and mouthpice taht came with you clarinet get rid of it and try a rovner ligature and the vandoren 5RV. and if you play on a rico jstu break it and go to vandoren or the Rico grand Concert they hold pu very nicly unliek the standard ricos. well ontop of that practice and listen to professional recordings alot that will help you learn how it is supposed to sound. style ect.
make sure you have the correct ombisure, cheeks in, lips tight, and firm. use a 2.5 reed if you are a beginner and keep on going up as you get better. cover the holes all the way and practice, it really helps.
I PLAYED THE CLARINET AND YOU NEED TO PRACTICE A LOT. IT HELPS IF YOU PRACTICE BREATHING BECAUSE THAT IS A BIG PART OF PLAYING. YOU COULD ALSO TRY GETTING A PRIVATE INSTRUCTOR TO HELP YOU.

HOPE THIS HELPS
Make sure you practice alot.Hold the clarinet in the right position. Also,i would say to make sure you have your fingers covering all the holes completely.
Lots of practice, never smoke, fresh reeds and practice practice practice
