I really wanted to be a cop or firefighter, but their qualifying standards are too tough. Also, cops and firefighters don't get the great benefits that military people do, like free health care, housing, discounts at the PX, job placement assistance, and various other preferential treatment. What do I need to do to become an army of one? Note: I am in very good shape for my age, and psychologically sound.I am a middle-aged female who wants to join the army. Can you give me some advice?
Talk to your local recruiter about enlisting. Make sure you make a list of questions to ask them so that you dont forget anything. There were a few older males and females that I trained with. You can do it as long as you want to. Once you start talking to a recruiter they will set you up to take the ASVAB and a physical. At the end of both of those you sign your paperwork and get sworn in. You dont have to rush anything once you contact a recruiter either, take your time if you want. Good luck to you!I am a middle-aged female who wants to join the army. Can you give me some advice?
I am assuming you are American.
In Canada, you can join the military as long as you can complete your contract (3 or 5 years, depending on the trade) before the Compulsory Retirement Age (CRA) of 55. This age is also likely being moved to 60.
I do know of a 51 year old grandmother that joined. There was a mention of her doing basic training, but I do not know what happened afterward.
I do not know if this is allowed in the US. We have no age discrimination here, so they cannot deny someone due to age, except at the CRA. However, there must be some in the US who have the same idea as you - best to talk to a recruiter, and ask questions.
be in good shape, atleast smart enough to pass asvab. if you are a single mother u cant get in unless u sign off your parental rights to someone else, (it might be dif. now but idk). second the benifits arent that great, and i find the px more expensive than walmart and the food lion. anyways, pick out a few carrers that interest you, take the practice asvab, and continue to stay in shape, and dont let them tell you what you want to do jobwise, i personally recommend being a mechanic, u dont get that dirty, but hours are long and its moderate work, but it is really fun in a motorpool!!!
Then you can't join the Army because
their requirements are a whole lot tougher...
Lady do you think the Military is playing
games...they are WAR FIGHTERS...
Not Aunt Mollies Sewing Circle...
Some Women in the Army have
earned Silver Stars for Valor in Combat...
Think you have the Army mixed up
with the Welfare system...which it ain't...
You might want to read:
I would begin physically training everyday so when you get to boot camp it doesn't knock the wind out of you.
Boot camp's tough for everyone, doesn't matter who you are.
You'll be ahead of the game if you can do the required sit-ups,push-ups, and run before you get to boot camp though.
congress set a maximum age limit of 42, and allows the US armed services to set their own limits
US Army 42
US Navy 34
US Air force 27
but as far as joining the service, you need to have a service minded mindset and joining because you will get a discount at the PX is kind of lame....
As long as you can pass the physical, weight standards, ASVAB, 42 years old or under, and you dont have to bad of a criminal back ground you will be good to go.
what do you mean middle age? i think the oldest you can be is 42 for the army. isn't middle age like 50?
Hey how old are you and what state are you in?
