Calling all mommies new and experienced: What is your ';If only I had known that before'; advice?

Ok so maybe it's a miracle product that they came out with during your second child's infancy or childhood, and you thought, man if only I would have had that sooner. Or maybe it's a technique you learned, or a something you did differently. It could be something during pregnancy or your child's infancy or childhood. Anything goes. All mom's have a piece of wisdom to pass down. So what's yours?Calling all mommies new and experienced: What is your ';If only I had known that before'; advice?
this is a little off from some of your examples...but...enjoy your showers while you still have the chance...once baby gets here...forget it...I don't think I even know how to take a shower that is longer than 5 minutes anymore...even if someone is watching our son and I can take my time I can't seem to stay in the shower for more than 5 minutes...Calling all mommies new and experienced: What is your ';If only I had known that before'; advice?
If only I had known how much of a battle it would have been weaning our son from being swaddled I wouldn't have started! Or at least I would have stopped after the first month or so. He was 7 months by the time he finally would go to sleep without it.

Oh, and the pacifier goes right along with that. He's weaned to having it only at nap and bedtime but I swore I'd have him off it by the age of one(he's 13 months now) because I thought it'd be easy. HA!
Sometimes (as in my case) breast milk doesn't come in until a few days, and even when it does come in, sometimes it's not enough. If we had had bottles and formula on hand (I originally planned to exclusively breastfeed), we could probably have saved my daughter from hospitalization for dehydration when she was 3 days old. She's fine now, but it would have been far better if it had never happened.
I wish someone had told me to try nestle good start formula 6 months ago!! I have been breastfeeding my son, but we have ben having tons of problems and I can hardly eat anything because it all made him gassy. We have tried him on a million formulas. Soy, milk based, sensitive, lactose free, hypoallergenic, finally someone told me try nestle good start and it's amazing! He is doing so well on it, I think I can finally wean him off the breast! I am glad I chose to breastfeed, but pumping and working full time was getting out of control!
well mine isn't here yet but i love some of the things i got from my baby showers that i didn't know about. My favorites were the rubber ducky that tested the temp of the water and tells you if the water is hot, and the 2 pacifiers one that takes the baby's temp and the other that you can insert medicine into the back (there is also a bottle that does that which probably works even better).
hyland teething tabs, and camilia. They are teething medications. We tried everything and I refused to give my child tylenol and Oragel. So for the first child, teething was hard. But since I found those products, with molars coming in, in one child and the first set of teeth coming in the other child. It has saved me alot of headaches.
ours was a Peke Moe sleep sack. as a previous poster mentioned, weaning from swaddling was not fun! but we got one of these for our 2nd boy and wish I'd put him in it straight away. He was in a Peke Moe till about 15months as it kept him coverd and cosy all night...
Rest when your baby is sleeping. Don't stress about the house or the laundry for a while, your needs are more important than a clean house. Also, baby poop comes in a variety of colors, textures and smells. So don't stress when your baby has tri-colored poop!
Only if I had known that what I may think is abnormal, is probably ok. I freaked out over everything the first 2 months my daughter was born. She was 3 weeks old, and I already took her to the ER for a simple milk rash. LoL. The key is to stay calm!
I just wish i would've had the special parking for pregnant ladies.. they started it RIGHT when i had my baby so i couldn't enjoy it! :(
When you are tired and frustrated ask for help, and the most important part DONT FEEL GUILTY!
I wish i would have realized how helpful a swing is when my daughter was a newborn i figured it was a waste of money to buy a swing that a bouncer would work the same but it doesn't a swing is an absolute must its very helpful. I also wish i would have realized how important a good breast pump is and that the cheap ones don't work period.
