Currently going between the Whirlpool Duet and the LG Tromm... I definitely want a front loader. I really like the idea of the steam washer and dryer. However, that seems to be the option that is adding to the expense. Anyone have any experience with this and any advice?
Thank you in advance.
JennI am looking to buy a new washer/dryer, any advice on brands, options, etc?
my boyfriend has the LG front loader, it has been great so far. my sister has a whirlpool top loader (it is like the front loader, it has no agitator and has a clear top) and she loves hers too. Anything without an agitator is like a front loader, they are nice!I am looking to buy a new washer/dryer, any advice on brands, options, etc?
I have always bought Kenmore appliances, never had a problem, but then I bought a Maytag Washer and Dryer, never again! They did a good job, but were very sensitive to the weight of the clothes in the washer, would stop working and have to move the clothes around for it to balance more than once. Also, whirpool makes the Kenmores or vice-versa so you can interchange parts. I live in an apartment right now, but there will be a Kenmore in my next house for sure.
You could 'check out' the models in 'Which' (usually available in your local library). However, a combined washer-drier is always going to be a design compromise over a separate washing machine and tumble drier. It will take more than one drying cycle (probably several) to dry a full washing load as the drum of a washer-drier is smaller than a tumble drier.
Due to lack of space, I have had two washer dryers:
1. An Ariston (late 1980's). It was still in good working order when I sold my flat after 7 years. The purchaser bought it from me. The washing machine function was v good. I hardly used the tumble drier function.
2. A Candy (bought in 1997). I found that I hardly ever used the drier. It was self-condensing (no ventilation pipe needed) but seemed to use a lot of electricity when I used it.
After this started leaking badly in 2005, I bought a washing machine (no drier). When I can't peg the clothes out, I put the washing on a clothes airer in my spare bedroom. I use a dehumidifier in the hall. With the central heating, it dries within 24 hours. However, this will only work if you're only doing washing for one or two people.
my experience with front loaders ,are that they tend to leak, and the electronics go hay wire, I have a Maytag top loader manual dial, that is 25 yrs old and still plugging away, have replaced belts, a Maytag dryer that is the same on age, dial type, have replaced the wheels twice, the dial once, 1 heating element,
newer is not usually better,
Out of all these brands ....Whirlpool is the best ....
I had a Maytag I had problems with it the first
time I used it . We called the service man out
three times , they still couldn't get it fixed .
I found out , the part thats on the machine
made cheap , this came directly from
the sell person he just read it , while i was there
he had a fax come in saying '; model xxxx ';
has defects . This was the same machine I had.
Anyways I kept it , and end up selling it , brought
whirlpool and I had this for 6 months and no problem .
I realize and know Whirlpool brought Maytag .
Good luck .
Buy a whirlpool , They make most of the other brands No extra added features, there the first things to break.
