Schedule the time off of work to allow you to stay home an extra few days in the event you need to. Clean your home now and either prepare a few meal in advance or buy some tv dinners. Wash your bed linens and be certain to make sure your laundry is done.
On the day of the surgery make your bed before you leave home. Take the trash out on the way.
You will be sore. You may need to ice it for the swelling. So be sure you have ice on hand and a ziploc bag or ice bag.
Get plenty of rest and eat nutritious foods so you heal quickly and properly. The body needs rest and good food to repair.
The reason I suggest you make sure your home is tidy and food is ready to go and your bed is made is because you may feel pain when walking around. And if everything is ready, you can move less until you can deal with the soreness. And there is nothing like clean sheets and a nicely made bed when you are groggy from the anesthesia and in pain. You can come home, eat a little and take a pain pill and hit the sack. So your sack heals.
Be certain to follow the aftercare instructions so that you do not get an infection. You may want to go ahead and purchase a bar of dial soap or other antibacterial soap now. So you have it on hand. You can also use dial liquid hand soap (not the lotion kind) if you have that on hand. It is important when cleaning an incision to keep it clean and dry.
Boxers not briefs and if no one is in your house, you may just want to wear a t shirt or go nude completely. Whatever feels better to you.
